Matariki Forests
Acquisition of forestry assets from Carter Holt Harvey
Mayne Wetherell advised a consortium comprising Rayonier Inc. and RREEF Infrastructure (the global infrastructure arm of Deutsche Asset Management) on the purchase of more than 95,000 hectares of plantation forests and associated assets from Carter Holt Harvey. Simultaneously, Rayonier sold its existing plantation forest assets in New Zealand to the consortium. The transaction completed in October 2005, leaving the consortium as the owner of the third largest forest plantation, by area, in New Zealand. Mayne Wetherell advised the consortium on all aspects of the acquisition, including shareholder and management arrangements for the consortium. |
